The Hanoi Old Quarter’s management board is organising various activities to re-introduce and promote several traditional crafts in the capital.

Hanoi’s traditional crafts would be revived at Old Quarter

The programme, which will last from July 26 until the end of August, is part of the effort to revive the cultural value of the traditional trades which are linked with the names of many streets in the Old Quarter.

Lathe craft and products of Nhi Khe trade village in Thuong Tin District, as well as products by households from To Lich lathing street will be introduced at Dong Lac Temple at 38 Hang Dao.

Kim Ngan Temple at 42-44 Hang Bac Street will be a venue for the exhibition of bamboo/rattan knitted products of Phu Vinh trade village from Chuong My District’s Phu Nghia Commune.

Lacquer art and lacquer products, as well as the art of furnishing and decoration of Hanoian old houses will be displayed at the Heritage House at 87 Ma May.

The programme is expected to help uphold Hanoi’s tangible and intangible cultural values as well as re-introduce the ancient customs and beliefs of Hanoian people.

It is also a part of the city’s series of activities to celebrate the August Revolution and Vietnamese National Day, September 2.
